This year?s tickets have just been released for its first events as a taster of the programme to come.
Produced by the Institute of Art and Ideas and held annually in Hay-on-Wye, Crunch brings together over 500 art industry professionals from curators, critics and writers to musicians, gallery directors, actors and Turner Prize-winners, to discuss the core issues facing art in contemporary society.
The theme for this year?s Crunch is Awake in the Universe ? what gives art the ability to raise us from our emotional and intellectual slumbers and where is its edge currently to be found? Are elements of the contemporary art world asleep and where should we look for vitality?
With exhibitions from leading galleries including Lisson, View and Paradise Row, expect the best of the contemporary art scene combined with a debate series featuring the UK?s most significant cultural figures. This year we?ll be joined by the likes of Serpentine Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, former Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company Adrian Noble, novelist Mark Haddon and artists Susan Hiller and Jake Chapman.
Founded in 2008, the Institute of Art and Ideas (IAI) aims to promote all forms of creative expression. It is dedicated to creating an open and vibrant intellectual culture where innovative ideas can flourish.
Each evening ends with a themed party featuring the UK?s best emerging and established talents from Laura Marling, to The Correspondents. See http://artfestivalathay.org/ for the full programme release.
