GameStop tells pre-order customers Last Guardian is cancelled, Sony says it?s not

Some GameStop customers have reportedly received pre-recorded messages announcing that their pre-order for The Last Guardian has been culled from the chain?s system, and has been canceled.

One customer, Darren Hupke, recorded the message he received and posted it online here (thanks, Dutch).

Various GS employees also confirmed to Joystiq that the game has been removed from the chain?s ?coming soon? list and the game can no longer be found on the retailer?s official site either.

SCEA?s senior director of corporate communications, Patrick Seybold, responded to Kotaku on the matter, stating the reports are ?not true?, as the game has not been cancelled.

We?ve mailed SCEA for comment on the matter just to be sure.
