It's Here! Portland Dining Month - - Portland Food and Drink

test

I know quite a few people who save their money for Portland Dining Month, held each June. This year, 65 restaurants have joined the program.

The formula is quite simple. Three course meals at a long list of restaurants for $25. No gimmicks. It?s a great way to try new restaurants without spending a ton of money. Who knows, you might find a new favorite.

Here are some of my highlights from the list:

Aviary -

1. Spiced duck leg and broth, slow poached egg, daikon and dates and brioche persillad, or chilled zucchini soup.

2. Pan-seared golden trout, pea shoots, mojama, pickled bean sprouts and lemon balm broth, or smoked chicken, lentils.

3. Stout cake, toffee, spiced apples and cr?me chantilly or frozen yogurt: strawberries, rhubarb, basil, butter cookie.

(Triva ? the first thing I ever made in a restaurant was chantilly, at The Magic Pan in Beverly Hills.)

?

Bluehour -

Sweet Pea Tortellini with smoked ham broth, pea tendrils.

Crisp duck confit with spring panzanella, rhubarb compote

Strawberry almond galette with cr?me fra?che ice cream.

(Word on the street is Bluehour has gotten much better since Boyce took over)

?

Paley?s Place -

George?s gathered greens ? lemon, extra virgin olive oil

Grilled pork shoulder ? pork & bean stew, asparagus, apple cider pork jus

Strawberry ice box cake ? toasted meringue, candied almonds

?

Tabla -

Mixed green salad with limonata soda dressing, white and red strawberries and pecorino.

Tajarin pasta with truffle butter

Duck confit with wheatberries, smoke currants and hazelnuts.

(On a good day, you won?t find a better restaurant in Portland)

?

When you make a reservation with Open Table through the Dining Month website, a donation will be made to Oregon Food Bank. For a complete list of all the restaurants plus nifty maps and reservation buttons,?click here.

(It should be noted that, for the second time, Portland Dining Month is an advertiser on this site. It should also be noted that I have run an article like this every year since the program started.)
