LONDON (AP) -Manchester United striker Federico Macheda is among three players who have been charged by England's Football Association with making alleged homophobic comments on Twitter.
Macheda, currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers, was charged Monday with acting in a way "which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute."
Newcastle striker Nile Ranger and Manny Smith of third-tier club Walsall have also been charged with the same breach, which the FA says "included a reference to a person's or persons' sexual orientation."
West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison was fined 7,000 pounds ($11,000) last week for a similar offense.
