The South Carolina economy continues to grow as local businesses expand and major corporations like Boeing and Amazon settle in.
Local companies that are expanding in South Carolina:
1. Mercom Corporation is expanding operations by investing $1 million. The expansion anticipates at least 30 new jobs.

Mercom is an information technology company that specialized in design, integration and installation.
2. Chester Wood Products plan to expand by investing $10 million and anticipates 20 new jobs.

We strongly believe in our business and the people of the Upstate region and the Chester community,? said Dick Baldwin, vice president and general manager of Chester Wood Products.?The company plans to upgrade its hardwood plywood production operation.
Major corporations are settling in:
1. Earlier this year, Amazon announced a new facility in?Spartanburg?County with plans to invest $50 million to open a new fulfillment center.
?South Carolina has been a great home for us and we?re excited to create hundreds of additional jobs in the state,? said Dave Clark, vice president, Amazon Global Customer Fulfillment. ?We had a great first holiday season in Lexington County and we look forward to serving our customers from both Lexington and Spartanburg Counties by the fall.?
2. This year Boeing Co, started production of the 787 Dreamliner in North Charleston, South Carolina.?Boeing?s North Charleston factory is one of two assembly sites for the 787, the other site is located in Everett, Washington.
Boeing, Amazon, and the local growing companies have a huge impact on the SC economy?and its ability to grow. The South Carolina is excited to see what the future holds for new business and more jobs.
